ANTI-RETROVIRAL TREATMENT (ART) UNIT
The Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) Unit
At Ga West Municipal Hospital provides comprehensive care and support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The unit ensures access to antiretroviral medications, counseling, and regular health monitoring to improve patient well-being and enhance quality of life.
SERVICES
- HIV Testing and Counseling: Confidential HIV testing and counseling services for individuals, couples, vulnerable groups, and families.
- ART Initiation and Management: Initiation and management of ARVs for HIV-positive clients, including symptom and side effects management, as well as adherence support.
- Viral Load Monitoring: Regular monitoring of viral load to assess treatment effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.
- Data Management, Reporting and Programme Partnership: individual tracking, management and reporting on clients in data sets for decision-making and partnerships with other organizations for needed interventions.
- Early Infant Diagnoses : testing (DBS/PCR) and treatment of infants born to HIV positive mothers.
- TB and Co-Infection Management: Management of tuberculosis (TB) and HIV Co-Infection including diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care.
- Psychosocial Support: Counseling and support to address mental health, social, and economic challenges faced by HIV-positive clients.
- Referral and Linkage Services: Referral and linkage to other healthcare services within and outside the hospital, including specialist care, social services, and community-based organizations.

TARGET POPULATION

HIV-positive individuals:
Adults, adolescents, and children living with HIV.

Key populations:
Men who have sex with men, sex workers, people who inject drugs, and other vulnerable populations.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women:
HIV-positive women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
